Solar energy is electricity generated from sunlight. The power from solar energy is produced by collecting sunlight and converting it into electricity by way of solar panels through an inverter to the electrical circuits. The solar power can be from one module to several modules depending on how big the system needs to be. There are three types of solar power systems including grid-tie, off-grid, and grid-tie with battery backup.
- The sun generates 170 million gigawatts of power each day, 10,000 times more energy than consumed by humanity
- We need to capture a mere 0.01% each day to maintain human usage
- 40- minutes worth of sunlight is equivalent to all the energy used by humanity in one year
